Trot Nixon had a very good game tonight against the Texas Rangers. He hit a three-run HR in the first inning, and in the ninth, he advanced Manny to third base, and Manny coming home ended up being the winning run (4-3). Trot was interviewed right after the game, and when asked about his performance. he said simply "Every day, I wake up and give glory to the Lord." He then jumped into the specifics of tonight's game. I LOVE that so many Red Sox players are do demonstrative about their faith. David "Papi" Ortiz always makes the sign of the cross when he hits a home run, Curt Schilling speaks quite openly about his faith, and former Red Sox pitcher Pedro Martines (now a Mets pitcher) used to make a sign skyward to God when he did good. Are the Red Sox players unique on their open display of religious belief? It's a good country we live in that people don't hide their faith.
