When I woke up this morning, it was 3 degrees Fahrenheit. Uffda! Time for fur! Nothing blocks the cold as well. Pull on that mink stroller, and you feel nothing when you go outside, it's unbelievable. Although some of my tree-hugging co-workers scorn me for wearing my furry coat, I don't care. It's time for fur. The minkie also gets many admiring glances and requests to touch it (it's wicked soft!). Turns out there are closet fur-lovers everywhere.
This fantastic coat trimmed with recycled fox fur (photo left), is a design from Harricana of Montreal. Mariouche Gagne has the coolest designs (check out page 14 of the catalog).
From a Russian scientist, who knows about cold weather and fur, there's this advice today:
"MOSCOW (Dr. Oleg Sorokhtin for RIA Novosti) – Stock up on fur coats and felt boots! This is my paradoxical advice to the warm world."
"Earth is now at the peak of one of its passing warm spells. It started in the 17th century when there was no industrial influence on the climate to speak of and no such thing as the hothouse effect. The current warming is evidently a natural process and utterly independent of hothouse gases."
"The real reasons for climate changes are uneven solar radiation, terrestrial precession (that is, axis gyration), instability of oceanic currents, regular salinity fluctuations of the Arctic Ocean surface waters, etc. There is another, principal reason—solar activity and luminosity. The greater they are the warmer is our climate."
You can read the rest here, it's an excellent antidote to the global warming hysteria. I'm all for energy independence, alternative energy sources, and weaning ourselves from Saudi oil, but not because of Al Gore's garbage science. Dr. Sorohktin says it best: "The classic hothouse (greenhouse gas) effect scenario is too simple to be true."
It seems there's a sea change underway, it's becoming acceptable to be a skeptic about the global warming doomsady scenario. Even the NY Times has noticed how skewed the reporting is on weather and global warming, as seen in this New Year's day article by John Tierney, science writer:
"When the Arctic sea ice last year hit the lowest level ever recorded by satellites, it was big news and heralded as a sign that the whole planet was warming. When the Antarctic sea ice last year reached the highest level ever recorded by satellites, it was pretty much ignored. A large part of Antarctica has been cooling recently, but most coverage of that continent has focused on one small part that has warmed."
"....Roger A. Pielke Jr., a professor of environmental studies at the University of Colorado, recently noted the very different reception received last year by two conflicting papers on the link between hurricanes and global warming. He counted 79 news articles about a paper in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, and only 3 news articles about one in a far more prestigious journal, Nature."
"Guess which paper jibed with the theory — and image of Katrina — presented by Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth?"
I'm liking what I'm reading these days.
Bring out the furs.
