I think of these events more as musical offerings than as concerts. The singers are offering their voices and heart to the audience and to God. Christmas carols and songs are surely some of the loveliest songs of all. Two sure-to-be-terrific offerings coming up this weekend:
1. Sunday, Dec 14, 3:00p to 4:30 PM
At St. Paul Catholic Church in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA
Boston Boy Choir & St. Paul Men's Schola (Jennifer Lester, director); Charlene Dalrymple, soprano & Mary Jane Rupert, harp (!!); Handbell Choir & Recorder Consort perform Britten's "Ceremony of Carols" & works by Marier, Biery, Rutter, Victoria & others. Tickets prices are $15, $20 and $25. Also performances on Friday, Dec 19 and Sunday Dec 21.
2. Saturday December 12, 8 PM

A Boy is Born! The Christmas Story told in the Choral Music of EuropeMusica Sacra: "From the advent of the 'modern' century to today's 21st century, from Estonia in the East to Britain in the West, from Schönberg's extravagantly romantic Friede Auf Erden to Pärt's contemplatively minimal Magnificat, Musica Sacra has gathered a treasure of carols to delight you as they tell the Christmas story of Jesus's birth. Join us as we explore the rich diversity of cultural traditions that Europe's citizens offer." Tickets priced at $15, $25 and $40.
